The third annual Dove Pink Star Walk took place on Saturday 25 October 2008 and it was pinker than ever. The streets were awash with almost six thousand people showing their pink spirit. Many participants wore decorated pink bras and pink costumes made up of accessories, wigs and tutus to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
Singer songwriter Brian McFadden got the crowd pumped with a performance from his latest album, whilst NBCF ambassadors Bianca Dye performed MC duties and Natalie Bassingwaighte took part in the walk.
This fun 5km stroll through the CBD is held each year with proceeds helping to fund research for the prevention and cure of breast cancer. It is also an acknowledgement of the 2,500 women that die of Breast Cancer each year in Australia. But don't fret you didn't have to do the walk to contribute. You can visit
www.nbcf.org.au anytime and make a donation; an amazing $40,000 was raised this year through online sponsorship!
If you did plan to do the walk but missed out this year there's always next year to show your support and all are welcome so please keep an eye out for announcements closer to the date (we'll remind you too).
